Perhaps you’re one of those lucky few (million) people that picked up the all new iPhone, maybe you’re more like myself and you’ve just upgraded your first generation iPhone to the new 2.0 firmware. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to upgrade. Why? I was was very content with all my applications, custom icons, cool wallpapers and well organised ‘folders’. Yes, my iphone was ‘jailbroken’…. but not being one to be left behind, I opted to give up my ‘freedom’ and I upgraded…

iphone 2.0I have been running 2.0 now since the launch of the software upgrade and I am impressed. The new apps are great especially the facebook and myspace applications. I’m also enjoying the Twitterfic application. Despite all these great new apps (and upgraded apps) - I’m still longing to have my applications more organised as I had with my ‘jailbroken’ 1.1.4 iPhone. I had a web ‘folder’ that contained safari, an IM client and the maps app. I had a games folder that featured my NES emulator - yes, Super Mario Bros on my iPhone really helped pass the time while travelling on the tube - and a few other interesting games.

I’m extremely happy that the infamous iPhone Dev Team have already provided a new version of Pwnage to enable users to ‘jailbreak’ their 2.0 iPhones.

Call me a little hesitant, but I’ve yet to ‘free’ my beloved Apple device. I’m looking forward to seeing some custom icons and unique wallpapers - and a HUGE collection of iPhone apps… and having Super Mario Bros. ready at a touch of a button. I’m just bidding my time ’til they’ve got everything sorted and perfected, so even “your grandma could use it”.

But until then, I’ll use my iPhone within the boundaries Mr Steve Jobs has set for us.
Have you jailbroken your 2.0 iPhone? Will you ‘free’ it? Let’s hear what you have to say.
